Its intentional THICK!!
Even in Sweden they try to Sing in American English, because all of the bands and singers know, if you can make American TOP 20 then you will be rich forever, so they are trying to co-op the american market.

I leanred that Years ago from a my friend Mattias ( the guy whos name I stole for my sons name, and the one in the photos I post of Sweden) who is in a band that is popular in Stockhom, but in order to make real money he says everyone does an American accent for thier recordings.

they all have a solid british accent wen singing. only the fake musicians (ie all the pop crap) do american accents cus they get told to by their record label.

They all want to sound like Americans because they're essentially singing American pop music. Paul McCartney even admitted that the Beatles intentionally tried to sound American to become accepted here. Singing with an American "accent" is just good business. Pop singers have to make it in America. This is where the money (sales) is.

works both ways

Greenday's stuff over the last 5 or 6 years has sounded increasingly English. Theres tracks they've done that are more sex pistols than the Sex Pistols

Its the Bourbon. The more bourbon I drink at Karoke, the more I sound exactly like whoever it was that sang the song originally. 6 standard Bourbons = Johnny Cash, 7 standard Bourbons = Jon Bon Jovi. 8 Bourbons and I can be anyone I damn well want to be!

And we Australians dont have an accent. Its you Americans who have the accent.

Lol, reviving this from the graveyard .....

Its not that people want to sound american when they sing - Hell, I think a lot of americans sound irish ...infact, a lot of the american accent is based on the irish accent ...

Also, I could name loads of bands that do not sound american at all ... just seems the listner listens to american music, and music with an american touch.

Ever wondered why country music sounds so Irish (and no, you probably would not know what I am talking about unless you are a die hard Country fan who knows his history or you have been to a pub in ireland).

Ok, carry on and ignore this post.
