Curiously enough. Some of the best bands I have heard, dare I admit it, are from New Zealand. The Kiwis put out some great muso's. They seem to lose their accent to until they start talking again and its fush this and fush that.

I guess I dunno what Im talkin about when it comes to this thread. The only british band I know is the Beatles. And Even then I dont listen to them. But then again, I dont think Iv ever even met a single British/Australian person in my life.
There does not seem to be many of em In California, Or Minnesota. So I cant say iv ever heard any of em sing. Us young foke under the age of 30 dont really care too much for the Beatles anyway. I saw the Canadian SkyHawks lastyear and they sung their National Anthem. I had to laugh. O Canada OOOOOOOOOOOOOO Canada. Alot better anthem then our friends to the south though, cause I dont speak spanish. Last edited by brandonb : 12-11-2006 at 03:52 AM. |

Radiohead, Coldplay, and to some extent - Oasis - do get quite a bit of airtime over in the states and they all have a distinctly "English" feel to them.
As for Pillbox's comments about the Irishness - I agree! American accent means a liklier chance to be accepted by American audiences. I mean it works in Films/Movies as well. Christian Bale (Batman Begins, American Psycho) is a Welsh actor, but in all his movies to date (big ones at least) he's sported the American accent. Simon Pegg - british comedian/writer/actor in his latest movie, with David Schwimmer has an American accent (although he didn't in Mission Impossible 3). Sean Bean in Silent Hill - had to do an American accent, lot of American fans of the games series. Not that I actually like these bands but I know of them: Lost Prophets - Welsh band, but you wouldn't know if you listened to them sing and not talk. Bullet for my Valentine - Welsh band, but again you wouldn't know it if you heard them sing. Funeral for a Friend - welsh band, but you don't realise until they talk. It's all commerical. |
